Dell latitude E7440 Detailed Features
Display: Three alternative 14-inch displays for the Latitude E7440 refurbished laptop are available for purchase: The most affordable model is a matte WXGA panel with 1366×768 pixels and 112 ppi; this display also serves as the screen for our test unit. Choose one of the two Full HD monitors with or without a touchscreen if you require additional space on the desktop. Since a touchscreen option always includes a glossy display surface, it is still unclear if it will be popular with commercial customers. We are unable to strongly suggest the low-cost WXGA monitor either: The feeble background illumination, which does not exceed an average value of 179 cd/m2 in its brightest setting, is combined with the inadequate resolution. However, the competitors EliteBook 9470m and ThinkPad T430u are
The performance: Dell refurbished laptop only provides the Latitude with economical ULV processors based on the most recent Haswell generation due to its mobile focus. The Core i5-4200U in our review unit runs at speeds ranging from 1.6 to 2.6 GHz. Although it is a little slower than the Core i5-4300U and Core i7-4600U options (1.9 to 2.9 GHz and 2.1 to 3.3 GHz, respectively), the performance should be more than adequate for the majority of workloads. The CPU supports the new AVX2 extension that Intel offered with the current Haswell generation in addition to Turbo Boost and Hyper Threading. Another benefit is the TDP reduction to just 15 Watts (from 17 Watts in Ivy Bridge), which already accounts for the energy use of the newly integrated chipset.
Connectivity and Ports: Although the E7440 refurbished laptop does not have exceptional capabilities like Thunderbolt, it nevertheless has enough of all the necessary ports. Dell also incorporated Gbit LAN, an SD card reader, two digital display outputs, and three USB 3.0 ports, one of which may be used to charge USB devices while the notebook is off. Even very large, high-resolution external screens can be connected via either an HDMI or a small DisplayPort. The usage of a VGA port requires an optional adaptor and is not immediately available. The Dell Port-Replicator II, which costs 180 Euros (about $244) and docks into the bottom docking port of the notebook, provides many extra ports.
Graphics: The HD Graphics 4400 will often be used by customers for basic office and multimedia applications. The GPU is not having any issues with this, quite the contrary. Thanks to several capabilities like Quick Sync, Intel’s quick and very effective hardware encoder, it is even quite quick in these circumstances. On the other side, the HD4400 faces greater difficulties with more complicated 3D applications. The dedicated Radeon HD 7550M scores 781 points in 3DMark 11, which is barely average by today’s standards. However, as GPU performance is not the most crucial component of a business notebook, it is not a significant disadvantage.
