Dell combines a 13.3-inch tablet with a keyboard dock that is passively cooled. When closed, the device resembles an Ultrabook and is intended for business users. It has TPM, a fingerprint reader, and a SmartCard reader. Our evaluation reveals whether the product is a viable substitute for standard 13.3-inch or 14-inch notebooks. Dell latitude 7350 Detailed Features
Display: The Latitude’s 13.3-inch display features a native resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and is covered in a layer of Gorilla Glass for protection. With 371 cd/m2, the panel’s brightness is excellent and can be sustained by batteries. Competitors like the Toshiba Portégé Z30t-A-10X (288.9 cd/m2) and Fujitsu Lifebook T904 (254.8 cd/m2) are unable to match this performance.
The performance: Dell refurbished laptop has given the Latitude a Core M-5Y10 dual-core processor, a part of Intel’s new Broadwell processor generation. The designation’s “Y” stands for a highly economical ULV type that permits passive cooling, which is also used in the Latitude. The processor’s base frequency is 800 MHz, but with Turbo Boost, it may go to 2 GHz. Hyperthreading is supported by the Core M. (every core can execute two threads simultaneously).
Connectivity and Ports: As well as a combined stereo jack, the tablet itself also has a fingerprint reader, a SmartCard reader and its own power connector (at the bottom of the tablet, not usable in combination with the dock), but there is no USB port or card reader. These ports are located on the keyboard dock. Dell has equipped the dock with the essential ports: A Mini DisplayPort can be used to attach external displays as well as two USB 3.0 ports. Additional ports can be used with separately sold adaptors (USB 3.0 to HDMI/VGA/Ethernet/USB 2.0) for the USB 3.0 port.
Graphics: Intel is the source of the Latitude’s HD Graphics 5300 GPU and CPU. The core operates at a speed of between 100 and 800 MHz and supports DirectX 11.2. The 3DMark benchmark results, however, demonstrate that it is unable to use all of its available capabilities. In comparison to the HP Envy x2 15-c000ng, which has a similar CPU-GPU configuration and likewise uses passive cooling, all of the results are subpar. Lower clocks are needed on the Latitude’s smaller chassis to prevent harmful heat. The Latitude’s refurbished laptop performance are comparable to those of laptops equipped with the HD Graphics 4200 GPU. The dual-channel memory design is advantageous for the Latitude; a single-channel memory configuration would produce significantly poorer 3DMark scores.
