Faiba has enabled JTL to slowly but steadily gain the Kenyan Internet market, thanks to its affordable Fiba Data Rates and fast reliable network. The phone must support Faiba 4G LTE frequency band, frequency band is the technology used by your phone to communicate with your service provider. Until late 2021, Faiba Phones needed to have the LTE-B28 700 frequency band, that is no longer the case since they expanded their frequency bands. Until late Feb 2021, JTL used to provide the Faiba 4G Wonder phone which supports Data and Voice but that is no more. The KaiOS feature phone is in low supply at the moment in the market and the Telco company no longer sells it on its website.
Despite this challenge, there are still alternative Faiba phones in the market i.e ZTE Blade A3, Energizer 4G LTE , Tsmart 4G Phone, and Nokia C1 & C2.
Besides these phones, Any phone that supports band B28 700 and the added bands in early 2022 qualifies as a Faiba phone. Most smartphones released since late 2019 support Faiba 4G, you just need to confirm if it supports the faiba frequency band.
Phones That Support Faiba in Kenya.
Apart from the above Wonder phone, Energizer 4G LTE, Tsmart 4G Phone and ZTE Blade, any Faiba compatible phone must support the Faiba frequency band, one of the surest ways to confirm this is to look for your phone’s 4G bands properties. Most recent phones from Samsung, Apple iPhone, Xiaomi Redmi, Nokia, Infinix, and Tecno come with the band B28 700.
How to check for Faiba Sim Card compatible phones.
So how do you check? One of the easy ways is to go to JTL website Device compatibility check, under the Device compatibility section, and search for the device name. Though it might not be up to date since they take time to update recent phones.
Another method is to use gsmarena website to confirm if the phone has the Faiba 4G band. While on the site follow these steps to check for a Faiba compatible phone.
- Search for the exact phone model i.e the latest Samsung Galaxy A32
- Once the phone is loaded, expand the NETWORK Technology Section

Getting a Fiba Sim card is not as complicated as it used to be. There are two ways to get the Sim card, the old way and the new way. Since late 2022, you can now go online here and fill in the details and an agent from Jamii Faiba will come to you with the Faiba Sim card and also register you.
